Rules and advice

  • The laws of riding on the road must be adhered to
  • Participants are responsible for their own cycle which must be fully roadworthy
  • The use of triathlon handlebars or other bar extensions is discouraged
  • The wearing of hard shell helmets conforming to CE standards EN1078 is mandatory for riders under the age of 18
  • All  riders are encouraged to wear helmets
  • Riders are not permitted to have their own ‘personal’ support car and any participant failing to observe this regulation will be withdrawn from the event
  • All participants under the age of 18 must have a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. Parental consent forms are available for download from the British Cycling website
  • Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • A form of identification should be carried showing your name, address and the contact details of a person to be advised in the event of an accident
  • You should carry food, drink, money, a mobile phone, spare inner tubes, a working pump, a basic tool kit and spare clothing sufficient to complete the ride being undertaken, taking into account the route and possible adverse weather conditions
