Cyclocross
Imagine running a bike race on an army assault course, and then throw in a bit of mud wrestling with the occasional hurdle. Mix these elements together and you’ve got the essence of cyclo-cross (often known simply as ‘cross).
Massed starts and short courses make for seriously exciting races, and you’ll soon find yourself battling with the nearest riders around you. It’s one of the few sports where novices get to race with national champions, and where everyone gets to compete, whatever their fitness or skill level.
