Tour de France 2001
The Star Riders

As the teams were presented to the public and TV camera's the Addiscombe Cam managed to pick out a few of the big hitters. Its really difficult spotting riders when they are just there in front of you. They all start to look the same after a while and we ended up with loads of shots of fellas we couldn't identify. Still, we managed to get these big guys for you...

French champion Didier Rous. I know you wouldn't normally put him in with the star riders  but he was a favorite of the crowd.

Erik 'Triple' Dekker.

Aussie Stuart O'Grady.

Columbian Santiago Botero.

World Champion Romans Vainsteins.

Mapei leader (and Agreeable Eileen's favorite) Stefano Garzelli.

Spain's Joseba Beloki.

The big man himself. Only not looking so big. Infact looking pretty mean and ready for the challenge ahead. Jan Ulrich.

The real favorite of the crowd. France's golden boy Laurent Jaja Jalabert.

Lance Armstrong was the only rider to have his own minder with him. Is this guy going to sit in the back of the following team car each day - squashing the poor mechanic into the remaining quarter of a seat?
