Tour de France 2001 The Best Bits
Photo's that don't really fit on either of
the other categories.

A
watched mobile phone never rings. Especially if you are waiting for
crumpet to call.

David
Millar's girlfriend was in the crowd with the Millar Fan Club.

The
gentle bum slap must be some kind of continental greeting between young
men in lycra.

The
world's best/worst pro cycling mullet depending on your viewpoint.

And
again, Laurent Brochard's spiky on top, short at the sides and LONG AT THE
BACK just incase you thought it was fake.

This
guy has got to be the most Italian looking bloke I have ever seen. Even
more Italian than that Big Tony or whatever his name is in the Sopranos.
Interestingly Nardello (in the background) isn't wearing his newly won
Italian national champions Jersey. Perhaps his clothing suppliers take as
long to deliver an order as ours do. With any luck he should have it in
time for Christmas.

Eric
Zabel seemed really cheesed off. He was in a team with no lead out men and
had three weeks of unnecessary suffering ahead of him.

These
scabs were incredibly bad. The camera doesn't really do the pain this CSC
rider must have endured justice. Look carefully for the end of the broken
finger still bandaged up.
LA on the big screen.

The
devil signed more autographs than Armstrong did. He was the very last
person to leave the presentation. He is even more mad than he appears on
telly.

The
night before the prologue the Belgians and Dutch were out everywhere
painting the streets of Dunkirk.

The
first rider in the start house waiting to get the 2001 Tour de France
underway. There were so many people out watching including 20,000+ Brits
that all the photos from here on turned out crap. Still, perhaps some of
the other 20 odd Agreeables at the race got some we can put up.
