Well, it was tough but finished in 4.01.32, 235th out of 290 starters and 'm pretty satisfied with that. Felt sick as soon as I left home, though I didn't know if it was nerves or having breakfast at 5.30 am! Forced down some SIS energy drink and a liquid sachet in the car on the way there but that's all I had until after I finshed, apart from 2 small cups of water on the second run. I felt really sick on both runs. I enjoyed the cycling section and did it in an hour ½, but running the last climb of the hill was the hardest part, especially as there was a guy in front of me who kept walking, then running off, then walking again! I finally overtook him though. Was good to see so many ACC'ers giving their support, especially Marek, Tamar, Maria and Marco. Sorry I didn't have time to talk too much afterwards Marco, had to get home for a nice hot bath!

V v impressed Dave - sorry I didn't see you finish. Sue had finished a bit earlier and we headed off for lunch before the Smith & Western filled up.

You looked like you were almost enjoying yourself on the first run - I liked your mantra "Keep it steady, don't blow, keep it steady, don't blow". It obviously worked. You looked nice and smooth on the bike too.

Huge respect - you wouldn't catch me running half that distance.

Congrats to Mike too on storming performance.

Cheers Tamar. I reckon I could have pushed the cycling section a bit more, took it easyish the first couple of laps but did the final one totally in the big ring. My running is crap though. Maybe next year I'll be a bit lighter and fitter. How's your mate's arm? Good to see you've discovered the pleasures/sins of Smith & Western!!

Legs of steel mate! Don't know how you big ring those hills.

Justin's shoulder got stiffer and stiffer throughout the day and his collarbone had an ominous looking lump on it. He finally went to casualty yesterday evening where it turns out it's not broken, luckily, just badly bruised. Not that that was any consolation when the clutch on Sue's car went on their way home and he had to push it one handed as she couldn't get reverse gear to get out of hospital car park :-)
