Road closure on Chipstead Valley Road

Postby Amy » Sun Apr 02, 2017 12:46 pm

Outwood Lane will be closed for 6 weeks as of 3rd April for water main replacement - basically the hilly bit from The Glade towards the Ramblers Inn. Alternative route shown is up to Banstead on A217 and then along Holly Lane but looking at Surrey A-Z OS map 187 I think I would head towards Kingswood Warren then head south on A217 for short way to come up Chipstead Lane and White Hill to come in on Chipstead High Road. There might be way through from the Warren to Chipstead Lane itself but it needs checking.

Now appears to be closed from 18 April. Time to check out the alternative routes.

I can report that riding back via White Hill and the Chipstead High Road is a very pleasant way to finish the club run - the climb up White Hill didn't seem too bad :D

Coming back along the Chipstead High Road I noticed a sign saying that it would be closed the weekend of the 13th! My suggestion is that after climbing up White Hill go straight over the crossroads and drop down Star Lane to the A23 at Hooley. They do seem to enjoy digging up the road around Chipstead don't they...
