I LOVE BIKING…..

A much much faster harder race this week. Here is my race report…. … I love biking

I can’t compete with last weeks race report, I drank far too much Belgoo last night for a girl that had a 4.30am wake up call..so here we go…. I love biking

• I peddled really hard… found the big cog ..

• Got caught on the front far too much included the whole last lap… Good training !!!!…

• The buggers caught me 5 meter from the line…. Bummer ….

• Finished 5th lady, possibly 4th. Half a bike behind the winner…… it was a big bike

• 12 points in the bag in 2 races and I got my 3rd cat license = Result

Chloe ‘I LOVE BIKING’ Thomas

Are there AA meeting for addicted cyclist?? I may need to get my self signed up now. My mother (a runner) is despairing, I’ve gone to the dark side,

Are you gonna get an Addiscombe shirt Chloe? You're clearly gonna win soon and it'll be great if its done in ACC colours

[quote]8.1.2 When competing under these Regulations riders (other
than as provided in T.R. 8.1.8 and 8.1.9) shall wear
Club or Region registered design and colours, as is
appropriate.

As a 3rd cat, you have to wear you clubs registered jersey design.

And Chloe, before you ask, no we won't change the entire club's kit from gold, black & white to pink, black and white.

Thanks Andrew. In case anyone's wondering, there were 25 riders in total (not 18  ) and actually, 18th out of 25 doesn't seem that bad, although as I was one lap down and lapped by the main group I still can't quite see it as finishing the race.

Sadly I got dropped after the first lap again. I started too far back in the group because one woman got in front of me when we were all going forward to the line and couldn't get up the front! It went off quite fast, as Chloe said, but was ok and I got up the steep hill ok but was quite near the back and had dropped off before the finishing straight. :(

I felt pretty depressed and was tempted to give up straight away but thought I might as well keep riding for a bit. Then 2 other women who had dropped off caught up with me, along with Maria David and another girl who were doing the coaching bit. So I realised I wasn't the first to drop off, and I had some people to ride with which was nice! We caught up with another girl, but then were lapped by the main group.

Coming up to the line I sprinted and came first of my little group (though to be fair, I hadn't done that much of the work all the way round) also passing another 2 girls who were just coasting along. Well, I thought I might as well get some sprint practice in, even if I had been lapped!

All in all it was ok. I didn't feel like I worked as hard as last week - though it was pretty hard in places, it was nice to be in the little group and get to rest sometimes as well. I just wish I'd been doing it in the main bunch. Amusingly, Nicolas, who was in the mens 4th cat congratulated me afterwards for having been in the break away! I had to explain I was off the back not the front.

Hey Bridget, I was wondering how you got on so. Well done for sticking in there. Its a horrible feeling when the bunch ride away and you just haven't got enough power to stay with them. As most people will tell you its really about lots of practice, more training and eventually you'll get that inevitable bunch finish. We've all been dropped in races especially at the beginning - stick at it and you'll get stronger/better. :D
