Night Ride Injury List - 27th February 2001

Another great night ride last night. Three of us were out and we did the usual short loop and the pace was bloody fast. My legs were aching like anything when I got back.

There were a few incidents, namely me smacking my head on a branch, me getting smacked in the eye by a branch, me breaking a branch with my elbow at speed, Gruff's HUGE crash (see injury details, below) where he went over the handlebars and Huw's rear rim disintegrating, just after we'd all commented on how lucky he'd been that night.

The new CH1 loop was top notch. We did the loop I did on Saturday, basically up the big climb, turn left and ride along the top for 100 yards, a sharp left and then about 1/2 - 3/4 miles of fast, twisty, flowing singletrack back to the start.

Anyway, I'll see you later, and below is Gruff's injury list.

Enjoy,

Jason

Injury list follows------Over 18s only please-------Juniors look away now.

Hey boys,

I thought I should follow up the night with a quick report of my injuries.

I have a nice 3" by 5" scrape on my left front shin, that looks like Freddy Krueger has been let loose on.

My right knee isn't really showing any signs of damage apart from a little cut, that isn't far short of a similar wound that a doctor may carry out on a pregnant woman's stomach.......oh yeah and the knee cap doesn't quite bend how it used to.

And finally, from my eye popping downhill crunch, that made me look like an Exocet missile zipping through the air, it didn't seem that bad. When we stopped and checked out my hip to see if it was still in tact, I was actually not looking up far enough. I have a hip that looks like it has been half eaten by Gremlins who haven't eaten for months. I can't move it properly yet, and bending down, standing up, and staying still, all magnify the pain.

So all in all it was a good ride with some good incidents throughout the whole night, and this ride must definitely make the people who don't come along, desperate to get out on next weeks night ride. I will be there as usual, if i have been released from intensive care.

:-)

Gruff

Busted rear gear hanger

Mangled spokes

Very bent gear hanger

Whatever this is should still be on the bike and not snapped off on the floor
