[quote="George"][quote] I built my Cervelo R3 with Chorus groupset without wheels for about £2,450. Add on some decent Campag Neutrons for about £400.
nearly 3 grand for a bicycle that you have to walk up the hills with

ouch. :)

I'm in two minds now. Sould I be lazy and buy one? Should I buy one in a sale? shound I buy a high quality second hand one?

Or just buy a frame and build it myself, i'm so tempted.

Sometimes it costs more to buy all the parts!! Somebody please sum it up for me.

Confused Marky Mark.

Anybody for an early run on This Saturday morning as I have to be in Mayday for 12.00 midday?

So many questions...... Confused of Purley :D :D :D :D :D

If you have the money then always go this route and you'll get the bike you want. Most pre-built bikes tend to have a compromise somewhere in the equipment used to hit a price point. Those that don't are the ones you'll drool over and then go  when you see the price label.

View it as a longer term project than a quick fix and you won't waste money. Start with the frame, fork, headset, stem, bars, seatpost, so you've got the basis. Then you can switch components from your existing bike over if you can't afford any more at the moment. If you can, good, buy and fit that too. Otherwise take some time to shop about and wait for deals, or money to accumulate in your piggy bank, and then replace the drivetrain, wheels and anything else as and when you can. It might take longer and not give the instant hit, but you will end up with exactly what you want.

Re: Wanted. Carbon Bike complete OR NOT

Cheers Andrew, the other curve ball is a friend has offered to buy my bike of me which gives me another lump sum. I then would have to get a bike straight away. Unless like you say, buy a good frame and forks that has some cheap equipment on it and then change it at my leasure.
Or even a very cheap bike that could then act as a winter bike, a right bargain of ebay or the like. the choices do seem endless.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open in this market place to.

With that spec, if you could get it at that price it would be a bit of a bargain (assuming it's new-ish) given that the SRM crank only (with a powermeter) is worth almost that - and all the rest is top-end too.

I couldn't see it is it ebay uk?

Sorry but I think that's way to good to be true. A Super Six with ceramic bearings, SRM, and full Dura Ace would cost a hell of a lot more than that, regardless of whether it's 2nd hand.
Can you put a link to it up?

Bike no longer required now. Got just what I wanted and thank you for all the advice you've given me on this topic, other threads and personal messages. Cheers folks.
But I do still need a rear wheel
