South London Harriers Go Tri - 1st Aquathlon 24/06

Good afternoon!

As you know a fair number of South London Harriers are also fervent Agreeables.

We are pleased to be able to let you know that we will be hosting a series of aquathlons under the GO TRI scheme. GO TRI is a fun, easy way to access the sport of Triathlon for beginners.

These events are perfect for novice triathletes. If you swim and run, and have always wanted to try out multisport in a patient and low-key environment, this is a great event for you to try the sport out.

The races take place on Wednesday evenings (24th June, 29th July, 26th August and 16th September) at Fitness Express, located within the grounds of Legal & General, Kingswood.

We are keen to welcome 30 athletes of all abilities and ages to the race, many competing in their first aquathlon.

The Venue is safe and free from outside members of the public and other park users. There is ample free parking and the race area is closed to cars. Kingswood Station (on the London to Tattenham Corner Line) is a ten minute walk away from the venue for those travelling by public transport.

Athletes must be aged 14+.

There will be a five-minute race briefing before the race (course familiarisation, transition and racing tips). There are qualified life guards present during the event and trained first aiders both poolside and on the run course.

Swim: 200m in an indoor heated 25m pool

Run: 3km off road run (flat grass playing field)

Cost: £5

Registration: 4.15 pm - 4.50 pm, race briefing/transition tips 4.55pm

Race Start: 5pm (Athletes will start their races at 1 minute intervals from 5.00pm).

Timing: Each athlete will receive a time for the whole event and their race position, but we are unable to use chips for timing each discipline.
