Well done Ajay.

[quote="marco"]hi
i will give you a tenner for completing

and another tenner if you beat my (sylvain's!) time of 5.55

Now marco you have to check the seconds on your 5.55 time otherwise you're an unbelieavable dead heat with Ajay!

Well it seems the Chinese really are stepping up their game for Beijing - after the win in the women's marathon:

Chengyuan Ren (China National team), won the first ever World Cup for her country this weekend.

And three Chinese in the top ten.

Ajay I still owe you a cheque next time I see you.

HAve a look at what some guy at work is doing - fancy it as your next challenge?

[quote]The Grand Union Canal Race is a footrace that starts at 6am on the 26th of May in Gas St, Birmingham. From here the course twists and turns to follow the entire length of the Grand Union Canal to finish 145 miles later, in Little Venice, London.

Every year over 300 people apply to run, 100 are selected, and on average only 7 will complete the enormous distance within the 45hr cut off. This year Harley ... a Gym Instructor here has decided that he will be one of those 7.

Harley has undertaken a gruelling training regime that includes many Ultra–marathons (distance longer than a marathon) races. In this year alone he has already run 8 marathons and 3 Ultra-marathons including picking up places in all of the Ultra-marathons and running a 2hour 52min marathon. On average he is running approximately 150miles per week in training plus a heavy resistance regime.

He is running not just for personal satisfaction but also to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neuron Disease. Motor Neuron Disease is an awful disease that attacks the nerves and leaves the person unable to control their muscles. Harley has chosen this charity as he recently had a close friends pass away from the disease after a long and painful battle.

During this run he is not allowed to sleep, nor stop for more than 30minutes. All food and drink must be consumed while running and supplied by a support team that will meet him along route. He will develop blisters, chaffing, dangerous muscle cramps, and will most likely experience hallucinations. His feet and hands will swell; he’ll become nauseous, experience acute stomach cramps and severe vomiting. This is one mean feet and although he has run many extreme events this one will be surely prove to be the toughest.
