I'm by no means a swimming expert.....but after a minute or two of "total immersion", don't people normally drown?

Maybe I should get my coat too.....

Don't be so silly, Sean and Tony - you know perfectly well that the idea is that you do a few sessions and end up being able to speak Japanese.

No, but seriously! Great idea, Marco - I've long fancied learning to swim properly. Count me in - cheers.

PS Maybe we could place an order with GBs for some ACC budgie-smugglers? That would guarantee us a lane to ourselves for sure

For having seen coach Simon Leila doing a pool length using this method, it has to be seen to be believed! Very few strokes but a lightning speed and fish-like smoothness. Basically it's about twisting the whole body around its length axle through the stroke, and minimising drag which moslty occurs at surface level.
I did take the lessons a few years ago but sadly didn't start practising afterwards - wish I had now.
Imagine TI + new NASA swim suit!

Adrian - Club "smugglers" would be bright yellow (with an apropriately placed club roundal) so maybe they should be called canary-smugglers in this instance.

Sylv - So you corkscrew through through the water :?:

Yes, I had one lesson then fell of the bike and hurt my shoulder - but a more mixed ability group would be great for me cos the Tri members go soooo fast!

Now seems a good time to ask - did anything ever come of this? I'd really like to learn to swim properly.

Now that most of the evening racing is drawing to a close it would be a good time to start this. Learn to swim properly in the autumn, practice over the winter, and we'll be as fast as Phelps by the spring.
