Afan

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

It a huge forest with a number of great quality, testing trails that cater for beginners through to experts. A weekend staying at the Port talbot premier inn usually costs about £25 for the room (based on two sharing). Decent grub in the pub attached. Fuel/diesel split between 3 was £30 each last time and parking cost about £5.

In my opinion some of the best riding to be had in GB without doing the 8 hour drive to 7 stanes in scotland ! If we had a few people up for it we could even camp at the sight of the second trail head 2 miles up the road from Afan. I personally like a nice comfy bed.

Could be up for a dirty weekend in May/June :D

Hi, Just had a look and there is no room at the Port Talbot Premier Inn for that weekend. I've booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express Swansea West that was £62 when I went through the www.booking.com website. I'm sharing with Jon, the guy who you met on the ride where Martin dislocated his shoulder . Plan at the moment is to leave early on Saturday morning to get to Wales for 10am. Not sure whether we'll stop at Cwmcarn but happy to go with the flow.

:D :D

That was an amazing experience! Arrived at the Afan forest centre at about 11 on Saturday morning and rode the wall up until we had a choice between the wall which had a red sign and w2 which had a black sign. Jon, my brother in law said he was feeling really sick and struggling so I made him do the black w2 route. Neither of us had a clue where we were or where we were going and we got a bit concerned when we didn't find any trails after riding fire roads for what seemed like ages. Eventually found ourselves at the entrance to "energy" and really from that point on it was smiles all round for the rest of the weekend. Will definitely go again, perhaps in July if anyone is interested.
