Isle of Wight 2010 trip - 2nd October

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Usual format is fill up the B&Bs in Yarmouth but it's up to you.

Agree a meeting time in Yarmouth square on Saturday morning and ride all day with a lunch stop. Shower and then meet in a pub for dinner and beer drinking and later on to the late night Salties :D .

Everyone can do their own thing re arrive and departure, most have gone down Friday to get a bit of pub training in. Sunday return just depends whether you stay later to do a bit of sight-seeing.

Jon,
As long as its a date when I will be here, you and Sam would be welcome to stay here in Ryde with us.
If you come down on the train to Ryde Pier Head on the Friday I can pick you up, stay the night, then I can take you both with your bikes to Yarmouth on Saturday morning ready for the ride. Then if you all turn up at my place on Saturday afternoon for tea you can stay Saturday night and have a leisurely trip back home on Sunday.
Think it over.
Cheers,
John.

Jon, you must be joking.
There is no way I would be able to stay with you guys up the first hill.!!!!!!!!
Not after the minimal riding I've been able to do in the last year.
My plan would be to drive back here after you have all started your "grand tour", then I would be back to prepare the drinks etc for the afternoon.
Then if you decided to stop here instead of riding the remainder of the "tour" we could all drive to Yarmouth for the dinner in the evening.
If you wanted to complete the tour by riding on to Yarmouth we would have to come up with a different plan. Not insurmountable.
It all depends on the date you guys choose.
I am off to Greece on 7th August and not back till 9th September.
Cheers,
John.

Saturday 2nd October

That's the date folks :D . Toks says the road race won't be that day.

I will go on the Friday and return Sunday but it's up to you what you do getting to and from the island.

Meet at 9.30am in Yarmouth square for the grand depart and a photo call of various parties.

I will have a space for one plus bike in my car should anyone want a lift, I'll sort ferry and B&B tomorrow so will know my exact travel details then.

I'll be doing an off road ride same as last year. It has a mix of most things and with a half hour lunch stop takes about 6 hours. Loads of trails so if some don't want to do the full route then there are plenty of options to cut the loop shorter.

Please can someone else pick up th reigns for the road group(s).

Hope to see plenty of you there, it's a great trip.

Well, I'm booked in at my B&B of choice 8)

Might go down by train but if anyone wants a passenger, I'm happy to share petrol and ferry costs instead.

I have accommodation booked too.

I don't know ferry prices, but paying to ship over a car I'm not going to use seems a bit daft. Is there anywhere to park for 2 days in/near Lymington? Again, I've been there sailing but not further than the first pub on the left when you come out the harbour. Otherwise the train looks doable.

Last time I went there was a big car park right next to the ferry terminal.

There is a cheap car park in Lymington for a foot passenger crossing. Personally I favour going from Portsmouth and drive across the IOW as it's more pleasant and easier than driving to Lymington.
