Clubrun 31st July

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Clubrun 31st July

I thought we could do a ride in the Surrey Hills this weekend; down Little Switzerland up over Ranmore then, depending how many there are, either the cafe at Abinger or the larger, slightly chaotic one in Shere. This will be quite a hilly ride through some of the best scenery around. As usual, we'll regroup at junctions and tops of hills and will always wait for anyone dropped. It won't be mega high mileage but it's a much harder route than Charlwood and the roads are quieter with considerably less traffic for the most part. If anyone's up for a beer towards the end we can go back via the Ramblers Rest in Chipstead Valley or if you need to get back home it's an easy ride back to Coulsdon from there.

I've now got a scaffold pole for my seatpin so that should hold my weight!
Time back is, as you know Jon, a bit difficult to predict but around 2ish I should think, later if you can't go past the pub!

Sounds a good one Pete, I'll be up for it, might have to miss the beer though as I want to get back in time to get to the free croydon music festival. Martha Reeves and the Vandellas and, even better for all the old Punks, the Damned. I will probably leave before the Lightning Seeds, too modern for me.

Here is my dilemma

Lower mileage plus hills = something I may be able to hang onto. I will be on my mtb with skinnies. I know this area reasonably well so if I am stretching the group too much with my slowness I will let someone know and disappear (puff!!!).

Are you guys n gals OK with that arrangement??

Cheers

PS - I don't want an attack of I Just Can't Be Happy Today (Damned, Chiswick Records....1978?) Whatever Lemmy played bass on the b side ballroom blitz

Hi PeteS, I am trying to work out if it's cost effective to come on Saturday as I will be using one of the TFL Boris bikes and by the time I have cycled down from London and back I could be in for £35. I am prepared to spend this much but can you guarantee my total ride will be less than 6 hours and if it is more could you reimburse me the extra £15 that would be due.

ps. you say the route is hilly and I'm not sure of the gearing of the bike will I be OK :? :?

Great old school clubrun in the training group, George Matt Jason Andy E (for a bit) and me doing through and off from Reigate and ripping each other's legs, 22.8mph to Charlwood, despite the rain and greasy corners, it's been a while since I've been really looking forward to sitting down and having a bit of a rest in the café like I was today! The way back wasn't bad either.
