3.5 hours non stop for Aodan and me today. Did the Boxhill Loop (a first for me to go all the way round). 28.5 miles, hard work, great fun. Got sworn at by a gobby horse rider, that was the exception as we met a lot of folk on bikes, horses etc and all the others were very friendly. Hardly saw a car all morning. Climbed around 400 metres, mainly in brutal short (ish) blasts.

Brilliant ride, I'm really feeling it now mind. Sore legs. Cheers to Aodan for great company, some good laughs and fantastic directions.

Lovely jaunt out with the 19's for me. Quite a large group but on the whole well mannered and well behaved though had to make myself vocal to stop people attcking up the Reigate steps, its a 19's after all not a training group. Not really my place to do this I guess but there was a lack of VC in our group yet again.

Legs felt good so joined in with the t&o which was of a good pace and standard. After turning off the DC and heading backthrough the lanes I got a bit lazy and sat in saving my legs for the honours in the sprint. Moved up lazily from the back of the group as the group entered the last 2 bends, spotted Serge near the front so sat on his wheel untill just before the last bend where I made my move and shot off the front of the bunch. Wouldn't normally go from this far out but I liked the idea of a long one. Crossed the line, looked around and wondered where eveyone had got to :D

Nice ride back. Started off in the bunch till Nick got itchyitus in his legs and went off on a solo break. Darren (Peachy) followed and not wanting to miss the boat I crossed the gap to them both to do my share of the work and pull away from the main bunch. Usual pit stop at the church before we were all off again. Darren set the pace and took us all up the drag to Starbucks where we bid him farewell as he headed for home. Still feeling good I put the hammer down all the way back to CSS and stayed away from any chasers.

All in all a great ride, good blast back. Feel as though Im getting back to where I was fitness and speed wise. Heres for more CR's like this one.

Thats all folks....cheers.

A slightly frustrating morning for me. Hols and other commitments meant that I hadn't been on a CR for a month or so and so I was looking forward to getting out. Nice to see everyone at CSS and to catch up with Jeff to commiserate with him over the loss of his bikes. In my post-hols state of freshness, when the call went out for the TG and Rob said that they weren't going to push it too much, I decided to hop on. I didn't even make it under the bridge when my chain fell off. Managed to get it back on and catch up, but then the same thing happened after the A/M23 junction. Stopping to put it back on again I watched the TG dissapear into the distance.

As I was getting myself sorted and back on, the 19's came past and I joined them until the steps when, you guessed it, chain off again. I kept adjusting the rear derailleur and after this time I think I had it sorted, save that I now knew I couldn't use the smallest 2 cogs without the chain coming off. Anyway, a good ride with Ant, Ben, Serge, Jeff and the others including a good paced T&O, and some fair joshing about the rubbish state of my bike.

As Ant says, itchy legs after leaving the cafe on the way back and really enjoyed the blast back with Ant and Darren - although they did most of the work. Ant is so strong on the return run and I was pleased to be on his wheel for most of the Merstham drag - I even thought I would follow him down the final run in, but my bike had other ideas and threw the chain off one last time for good measure at the top of the drag.

Anyway, limped home safely and after a trip to Butler's later in the afternoon to replace the rear derailleur hanger (thanks Darren - you were right - somehow I had managed to completely bend it out of shape) I am now all sorted and ready to try again next week.

So: frustrating, but even a day like this on the bike is better than a day not on the bike!
