This week - Andrew G Easy Weds ride!

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

10.00am ECBR, all welcome. not sure where Andrew will take us but rest assured its bound to include a nice little cafe. Back in Croydon for 1pm
All welcome but if you are on a hybrid type bike be prepared to have your legs aching more than those of us on a road bike!

Bring a jacket if it looks like rain, we'll still go out but it might not be as far.

This week - Andrew G Easy Weds ride! a contradiction in terms surely!! :D

Don't worry, Rachel; the lad needs to give his legs an easy turnover after his 24 hour and shorter TTs since ... I'll be coming along to put a softener on the action. Main question: which cafe?

Don't worry I'll just be pootling along at whatever pace anyone else want to go at, social ride init

I only meant I'd be happy to lead if you weren't out Marco but don't mind, 18 miles to the Beaver cafe at Tatsfield okay? Easy to trim 2 or 3 miles off if need be. (Out through West Wickham and Coney Hall, through lanes to Downe and then via some nice little ones to Knockholt and back to Tatsfield).

[quote="marco"]He'll be doing a solo TT off the front then!
We actually split at Keston last week so the faster guys could do a couple of extra hills and rendevouz at the cafe at the same time.

Any teachers want to come out this week and start their holidays off the nice way!?!

This particuular teacher would have loved to but we don't break up till Friday

Indeed a good ride today even with Marco's abscence! Both Green senior and Junior took turns in leading us round a very picturesque ride through the valleys of Kent. The stop at Beaver world even brought out a rare example of a Kirk Precision bycycle owned by the motorbike guy up there called Jay. He took great pleasure in telling Graham how he could have his rusty front fork re-coated with chrome, and then decided to see if he could sell us his vintage piece of rare bycycle design. My offer of a couple of thousand was greeted quite amicably before deciding he'd rather hang onto it for all the curiosity it drew from passers-by. From the look of the stitching and several large chunks out of his right leg it didn't look like he was unfamiliar with coming off a bike or two in his time (Probably something a little heavier than a mere pedal bike!).

As promised here is a selection of the shots I took today.

Er no I didn't :) , a social little easy twiddle with some nice chatting though.

Marco let me know he was a DNS as he had work to do so Rachel, Kasper, Graham, my Dad and I out today. We headed off through Shirley and West Wickham to Coney Hall and in to the lanes. Up Jackass Lane and on to Downe, then straight through Downe and down the nice lane that leads to a windy descent and a little climb at the end to Cudham. It's little but steep and the others got off and walked up the top section not fancying the 25% bit from the saddle. I was going to do a nice narrow laney bit to Knockholt and back but we were running a bit later than I thought we'd be so just headed up Cudham Lane South and right down Grays Road and along to Tatsfield and the Beaver cafe where an attentive meercat watched us lean our bikes up against the fence.

A nice bacon sarnie and mug of tea before we rode home through the lanes and down Featherbed Lane. Graham had stopped at the motorcross/enduro shop and was chatting to the owner so I asked if he still had his Kirk Precision which I'd seen outside before and is the only one I've ever seen in the flesh, he was happy to get it out and show it off. They're magnesium frames from the late 80s early 90s and were a bit of a failed experiment as they proved very expensive to make and rather flexy. Very rare bikes.

Rachel and yours truly at the Beaver cafe, Rachel rather happy with her new jersey which I was happy to pass on as it was given to me by old member Stevo Kemsley when he had a lycra drawer clear out and was a bit too small for me, a bit big for Rachel but fit for purpose.

This is what a Kirk Precision looks like for those that don't know.
