Firstly, any update on Seth? Alex met the same policeman who attended the crash on the way back helping to pull a car out of a field. He'd contacted the hospital and it might be that his hip/pelvis wasn't broken.
As you may guess from the above, those that ventured out today encountered a rather icy patch - Flanchford Road was black ice from the bend to the bridge over the Mole. Good work from Julian to warn the other groups behind and also Pete and Murray for looking after Seth's bike for his wife to collect. A real shame that the crash happened and with such a bad result, especially for Seth, as otherwise it was a lovely day if fresh with the temperature and the sun helping to melt any further patches.
Strange mix of riders out - seemed to be mostly training group down to 18s with a handful of lower speed riders, including me. So after the 18s left, the remaining riders left as one group and kept the pace easy in view of possible ice, especially after Flanchford. A mental review of possible routes to the café and the possibility of ice led us to take the direct route to Tanhouse. Most then came back via Box in order to get a bit more mileage - why does that leg from the bend by the nursing home turn to the trees seem to take forever?? Oh that would be because I'm still unfit. Getting better I think. Maybe a few more miles tomorrow if it isn't too bad out over to sort some more stuff out at my parents and visit my Dad.
