LATEST NEWS - ACC to promote 3 Road Races

I’m delighted to announce that our club will be promoting 3 Road Races this year. All the Races are on excellent courses suiting different abilities. The club has enough talented riders to be competitive in all 3 and we should win at least one. It will be great to see a big Club turnout either Racing, Marshalling or Spectating. If you decide to Marshal, you should be entertained with some exciting racing in some of the best countryside in England:

Sun 3 May – Bletchingley
This is part of the Surrey League 3 Day Stage Race. If you have ever Road Raced or done a TT around this course, you will know how brutal it is and racing the day before is not going to help. The peloton will get smaller every lap leaving riders littered all over the course. There are no lucky winners – only class will win this one. Dave K nearly won a solo victory here once. Will he get to the finish line this time or will it be Rich?

Thu 14 May – Newchapel
This is an evening Handicap race on fast course which will be won by a fast rider. If all the groups come together the last lap will average 30mph. We should have a rider in each Group with a chance of winning at the end. Will Steve B win again or will one of our younger riders like Matt H or Alex shine.

23 August – Tunbridge Wells
This is on one of my favourite courses. It’s an undulating course with some long draggy climbs. This will probably be won by somebody in a breakaway who enjoys a long brutal thru & off. Jonathan could win this or George should be on top form by then.

There are plenty of other riders I haven’t mentioned who could prove to be the winner so make sure you’re there to witness some great racing.

And last but not least, let’s thanks the promoters who are giving up their time to run these events – Paul “2nd Cat” Tunnell, Jonanthan “Power” Pontin and Marek. :D
