Interclub TT vs NP - 5th July 2011

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

[quote="olderigetbetteriwas"]is this a hilly course?

I seem to remember that there's a bit of a rise towards the end. Oh, and one in the middle somewhere. Come to think of it there's a bit of a drag at the start. ;-)

Hi rich,get the tt bike out-perfect distance to give it a try out
It is quite hilly but plenty of non technical road to get used to it on

It is hilly and really tough for a TT course. long climb up through Bletchingly then down hill more or less (it's still lumpy) to the turn then more or less up hill from there (but with a couple of downhill sections). yuk.

Yes. My 10 pb is 22 mins dead and my pb on this 10.7 mile course is 28.30ish. That said it is a TT bike course.

Starts with a longish drag up the A25, short flat bit then left and down a long hill which is in 2 parts with a small drag and a flat bit in the middle. This takes you to the far bit of the course and a left turn to start the climb back home. Flat bit then a hill, then a small descent and flat bit, then a little lump of a climb followed by a flat bit and a small descent. Then a final climb with the finish at the top of it.

For the climbs I change to the 39 ring as I approach so I can then nick up the sprockets to the out the saddle and push bit of them and this avoids jump changes on the hills. Stronger lads like George probably ride it all in the big ring.

There are some bits which twist a bit but they can still be ridden on the tribars, I just tend to not use them on the big descent as there are a couple of bends which are a bit tighter at speed and I can bank the bike more to carry the speed if I switch to the base bar.

The finish is at the 30mph signs at the top of Outwood Lane just before you come out in to Bletchingley. Same place as the road race finished this year.
