Club 10, 19 July

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

so does that mean only 2 races count towards the league?

Sorry Paul, just realised what you meant.

Yes, as it was to be the best 4 results from 6 races to count towards the league, and we've lost two events, that means it's now the best 2 results from 4 races.

So anyone who's only done 1 race so far can still qualify by riding the President's 10 in September.

This is IMPORTANT!! This isn't correct but can see where the confusion arises!

I meant to get back to you all about this at the time but what with one thing and another...

When the rules for the leagues were being worked out my original document was much clearer and precise:

best 4 from 6 possible rides
3 from 5 rides
3 from 4 rides
2 from 3 rides

(if we were left with only 2 possible rides it would cease to be a league)

So the important clarification is that as we have four rides this season (including the President's 10) it means that the best THREE rides count. So if you have only done two rides so far this season you have to then ride the coming president's 10 to count towards the league. I will email this out to all members. Hope this helps. Any problems get back to me ASAP.

Is there any chance we could have the league standings posted somewhere (sticky?) please? I need to know who I need to sabotage in order to get anywhere.

I sent out all league standings by email a month or so ago - that way the tables are in nice neat lines instead of a jumble of numbers when posted on the forum. I'll send again if you want so you can start planning the sabotage.

Found it (amongst the spam). I'm doomed.

So, how do I get a Boris Bike to North Holmwood ...

Quite simple really. The key is the "Code" formatting that puts it into a monospaced font. However, that doesn't respect tab stops so what you need to do is get it out of Excel as fixed width columns. For this, you do "save as" and select "Formatted text (prn)". You'll need to save each sheet separately. Then open them up in Notepad, stitch them together, fix any glaring format errors and paste it into a forum post. Select that bit you pasted in and hit the "code" button. Depending on how it looks in preview you may need a second bottle of wine.
