Dear All - Unlike 2009 when the cold snap was freezing, snow and ice were in abundance and it was very very clear we couldn't run due to ice and cancelled on Saturday. This year is different.

Whilst it clearly is very cold, there is forecast cloud for Saturday night with just above freezing during the day.

As with all time trials there is a course inspection anyway before the event and we are well aware of ice hazards. Riders attention will drawn to any particular areas.

I would remind everyone that its only been cancelled x1 in 19 years and its the 'same' time every year.

We will take safety very seriously but we are definetly on unless it transpires unsafe on Sunday am. We will make every effort to run this.

64 riders, safety first, we will be there.

Yes, I saw that. Hopefully things will dry out a bit today. Not feeling very fit but keen to try out the new bike in anger for the first time. Might bring some clincher wheels though.

It's snowing. Much as I wanted to test out the TT bike, I think a tactical retreat to bed may be the sensible thing.

Cancelled.

I went to drive the course before the first rider was due out & the roads were damp & -2°C. Not a safe combination. I called in at the HQ & the organisers had decided to cancel.

Shame, there was a fine looking selection of cakes.
