ACC Track Championships HH 15:00 Saturday Sept 8

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

ACC Track Championships HH 15:00 Saturday Sept 8

Postby Mark Leedham » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:48 pm

I have booked Herne Hill Velodrome from 15:00 on Saturday Sept 8 for the ACC track Championships.

All riders and spectators welcome.

I hope you will all be inspired by GB Olympic Track Cycling Team this August and get your fixed wheel bikes out.

If you have not ridden the track before why not go to one of the VCL Track training sessions:

Mark can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can hire a track bike from them for a nominal sum. Tom did the ACC promoted race there on a hire bike. Anything with brakes/gears wouldn't be allowed.

Actually Mark - I'd like to give this a go so will we be able to hire bikes? I have a fixie but the gear is kind of low and it has lights, mudguards, brakes etc.

You need to have completed the track training session at HHV where you can hire a track bike

Mark: What I was checking really is that people like me (I have done the HH induction) will be able to hire a bike there to compete on as I don't have my own track bike.

Do we need to book a spot to come to the velodrome or can we just turn up?
I'd like to come and play :)

If someone wants to borrow my bike for the day they are welcome.

It fits me so someone around 170cm, or bit taller with longer stem if you have one (70mm on).

I would have been up for this but it coincides with my last para Olympic shift - if anything changes I'll be there, A

As Mark says, you need to do the track induction - which is every Saturday morning. As others have said elsewhere though it is getting damned popular so best get there well before 10:00am. Well worth doing though as blasting round the smooth tarmac (think Box Hill) with no brakes is a thing.

I plan to hit some of the faster sessions some time when I'm not doing the Saturday CR.

Hi Mark,

I'm defiantly up for this (especially since I'm aiming for Rio on the track!!). I was just wondering if you enter on-line or when you turn on on the 8th?
Also I'm 14 yrs old but Monty said I should enter some of the adult races too, is this possible? If so bring them on haha!!!! :D
Finally (sorry about all the questions!) what are the different races that you can enter?

Thank you
Matt

Matt: I think the rules state that juniors can only enter if they promise not to make the adults look bad.

I too would be interested in what the events are.

Lizzie, if you've not made it to a Saturday induction yet (and are not going tomorrow), you can try the women's session on Sunday eve 4-6pm where you can do an induction.

See http://www.facebook.com/groups/134762979981245/members/ Worth checking that it will be at that time before going as sometimes it gets moved around due to other events.
