President's 10 and Jack & Jill start sheet

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

[quote="Andrew G"]Re handicaps, that is the standard way handicapping works. Everyone gets a chance to pick up a prize in their second race, in opens you can do a sporting course and then enter an event that gives a handicap prize to win some money. You can only do it once though :D . Don't pick on your lad Phil  , he won fair and square.

Re results Jon, I use a spreadsheet for results that I wrote for the 25. I will create a copy and simplify it for the club 10s once I've got the handicap and peoples PBs from Jon H. If I make sure that I charge the laptop then I'll bring it to the club TTs and Tim et al just need to give me the finish time and the sheet can do the calcs. It also deals with vets standards.

Great! Sounds coool. Just what we need. Nice one! :D

Are you telling me that there is no minimum handicap? So I could enter a tough 25 - ride it in over three hours or so and then get a ridculous handicap for my next race???? Can't be right can it?

That's right Jon. In 99% of cases you won't know that a handicap prize is being awarded when you entered the second event though. In most cases they are added as bonuses when you have bigger fields and a larger prize pot to distribute. Your handicap would be based off your entry time, your 3 hour jaunt. Of course if it was a full field in the second event you may not get in as your qualifying time would be too slow :) .

As another twist most very tough courses aren't standard distances so your devilish plan wouldn't work.

For a £10 - £15 prize it's a lot of trouble to go to :D .

In general in opens handicap prizes go to newer riders who are improving in bigger lumps than seasoned testers as they gain experience from each race to a larger degree.
