Club Evening 10 - 3rd June 2014

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!
Yes mate, changed it at the weekend from 48-18 (normal weekday gear) to 48-16 not specifically for the TT although made the bike rideable at least but because supplier sent me a warranty replacement that was the wrong size. So ran 48-16 which has been waaaaaay to big all week and for getting to the start but yeah was spinning my nuts off on occasions.

I'll have to find a unicycle for next time, just to find some more inappropreate cycles, but is more useful for everything else. Is there a handycap for how much your bike cost :?:

Yeah was fun thanks Ashley.

I don't ride single free but ride fixed quite a lot in winter, 48x19 my gear for that normally as it is a bit easier in to the headwinds, than an 18, that crop up at that time of year.
I've done a couple of 10s on the fixed and dropped a 14 or 13(when I can find it) on for them and been twiddling like mad so your legs must have been a blur on a 16. Well done going under evens on it.

By the way Marco did the President's 10 on a BMX one year if you want to up the ante for unsuitable bikes to TT on :) .

I'd toyed with the idea of driving to the nearest Boris Bike station, taking one down to the President's 10 and then driving it back. Mind you, could I be any slower at the moment?

I've seen someone do a 25 (on G53) on a full susser mountain bike and get 1:15 something.

Chopper, Brompton, Moulton, Penny Farthing, shopper sit-up-and-beg type?

have you read Sheldon Brown about keeping the gear teath even? http://www.sheldonbrown.com/chain-life.html

Thanks, that was the target.

Boris bikes are just too expensive. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/barclays-cycle-hire/what-you-pay that would realistically cost £37!!!

I was hoping to have a little battle with you Phil, but I was 37 seconds behind your previous attempt.
Just imagine if you'd been on a fixed

Penny Farthing sounds fun.

Extream efforts, have got one of those, sounds tempting

That is quality giggles good on him. Need to add some ramps and rails for some time bonuses. Not that I can ride park.

I suppose I could ask someone from CTT but Google gives me no clue as to whether you can ride CTT events on an ordinary. If you had a brake on the back wheel then it might be technically legal (as a fixie is with a front brake). Hmm.
