Sout East Women's Time Trial Series

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Sout East Women's Time Trial Series

The entry for SEWTTS is now open. http://www.sewtts.co.uk/p/join.html

SEWETTS got going last year "as a means of bringing women TTers of all abilities together to create a fun and more competitive racing environment and to help encourage new participants in the sport."

It would be a really great intro to Time Trialling / racing in general for women in the club who've not tried it before, or who've dipped their toe in an evening 10, and an opportunity for some of our faster TTers to test themselves against other women in the region, so do give it a go!

We are promoting a brand new event as part of this series on Saturday 18th July, so please do come and support - both women and men! It's 15miles on GS482 which starts at the same place as the club 10s in North Holmwood (I think!)

You are correct Bridget. The course is:
- First 5 miles is as per club 10 to the turn
- Left at the turn up to Rusper
- Sharp left at the top and then hammer it back through the lanes (CR in reverse) to Newdigate
- Left at Newdigate as if going to Box Hill
- Follow this until left at Inholms Lane
- Finish is on Inholms Lane shortly before you reach the car park used for club 10s
Total distance is 15.8miles I think, or it maybe 15.4, nice round number like that anyway. Course is draggy to Rusper (can be tough depending on wind direction) and then mainly fast with a couple of drags towards the end.

That's GS483 Andrew. They wouldn't let us use that in the afternoon - parked cars outside Bob's Shop in Newdigate.

The course is: Start in Spooks Hill (as per G10/42)
Right at Beare Green down the A29
Left on Marches Road
Left at the A24 at Kingsfold
Back up the A24, straight on at Clark's Green
Finish north of Beare Green somewhere
Distance: 17.5 miles.

I suppose I should ask for a proper course description.

Ah, that is the course Redmon used last year when there were roadworks in Rusper and are going to switch to from next year. The course I mentioned does have some iffy road surface in places and the blast back through the lanes from Rusper to Newdigate has some off camber bends which were fun on the damp roads this year.

Nice course and not as tough, Marches Rd is a bit rolling and the SC section of A24 from Marches Rd to Capel is a drag, but other than that you can get some good speed going. Through Ockley can be a flyer and great fun, just hope you don't get caught behind a car. The finish is towards the top of the drag next to where the turn is for Beare Green village hall, that hall makes a perfect HQ for this course as you get a nice run down the A24 for a warm up.

Anyone wanting to test race Marches Rd and the SC A24 section then this is covered on the SCCU Sporting 25 in April, you do 2 laps of that loop with Ockley.

Thanks Andrew, and thanks for the HQ suggestion. I think I should get onto that soon. What were the two places you suggested Phil?
