Road Racing 2015 - Team Addiscombe

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

This year, I have the honour of being your Road Race Secretary.

2014 was a good year for ACC with some excellent wins by Jonathan, Paul T and Alex. I would like to see the club build on last year with more wins and more people racing. I know we have the talent to do this and if we ride as a Team, we should be very competitive.

If you are interested in Road Racing, need advice or have any questions, feel free to ask me on the Club Runs or email me roadracing@addiscombe.org

If you are a Novice, Cat 4 or just interested in racing, you should go on the Surrey League’s Training Days which are compulsory if you want to race http://www.addiscombe.org/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15253

You can enter most races on http://www.riderhq.com. The Surrey League and SERRL have now opened their races for March and you need to get your entries in quickly as they will fill up quickly.

We have plenty of people who are already entering races and if want to join the team, you will be most welcome.

Jonathan Pontin
Richard Buerckner

The plan is to race Dunsfold Friday nights, which starts in May, any other Novice racers fancy this? Be great to have Team Addiscombe out at this end of the Cats as well!

Quick report from the SERRL Winter Series 4 on 21 Feb:

I attacked at the end of the first lap and went away with another Cat 4; we stayed away until 3 laps to go, at which point I got dropped and picked up by the reduced first group of about 30 riders. I could see Jonathan had been valiantly soft pedalling on the front - we had a gap over 90 seconds at one point, but it was coming down gradually from about the half way point. While I sat in the bunch Jon looked after me well and did a superb leadout on the last lap, but my legs just didn't have anything left after my earlier efforts, and I rolled over the line in 30th place; Jon was 26th. Nevertheless, a great showing and it was good to get the Addiscombe jersey well and truly on show!

Update

Team Addiscombe have had the best start to a season for years with 4 wins so far. This is despite a number of races being cancelled and races filling up quick.

Our hard work over the winter and our training camp are paying dividends and I expect to see more wins from different riders.

We are always looking for more recruits to join us in the training group or racing. Everybody has the ability to join us - none of us are elite athletes.

If you are interested in being a contender, not sure what to do next, need advice or have any questions, feel free to ask me on the Club Runs or email me roadracing@addiscombe.org.

Addiscombe CC are the ones to watch.
