Surry league race training sessions

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Surry league race training sessions

Postby Ian Bray » Thu Oct 29, 2015 10:17 am

Anyone new to racing like me will need to complete two training sessions to be eligible to race in cat 4 surrey league races. This is the perfect time to complete the training in preparation for racing in the 2016 season. I aim to complete my last session on 14th November in Ardingly but it needs at least 20 riders so please sign up...

Great post Ian; just what's needed.

Do the 2 training sessions need to be taken at the same place, or can you "mix and match'?

Ed
I did my two sessions early this year, didn't need to be same venue
The two sessions were pretty much identical, and combine people on both 1/2 sessions, however on the first session it was riding and theory then on the second session we stayed out riding without the theory

Ed, you can complete the course at different places.

I aim to do my last one on Saturday 14th November if enough people are registered. Currently the event is showing 13 people excluding myself (I have a differed place). Hopefully some more people will sign up

Thanks guys.

I'm going to see if I can get in on that Hillingdon one this Sunday. Is that Hillingdon in Uxbridge?

Completed both of mine at ardingly earlier on this year, done by PB coaching, entries through riderHQ, all seemed very organised compared to this?

On a related note, will anyone be racing in any of the winter series? Would be nice to have a few familiar faces around. The imperial series at Hillingdon has sold out of 4th cat places almost immediately, might try cyclopark

Ed, hopefully this training session on Saturday goes ahead, convince Chris & Diana to do it... Paul still needs 5 more riders to sign up :(

Mark, I would be interested in these winter series. I will look into it, would be nice to get enough points to start as cat3 next year...

Ed,

Yes its on, I spoke to Paul yesterday and he said

'Saturday is definitely going ahead as it's the last one we're putting on regardless so see you there :-)'

Due to the weather I was going to drive down, do you want a lift?

Imperial winter series at Hillingdon:

http://www.riderhq.com/events?q=imperia ... &a=SEARCHl

But these all seem to sell out of 4th cat places almost immediately

There is one race at the cyclopark on the 28th November that is much less busy:

http://www.riderhq.com/events/68841/ser ... -series--2

But even though it says winter series, there only seems to be one race..

At Lee Valley they have this:

http://www.fullgascycling.co.uk/lvvp-wi ... it-series/

They are 3/4 races rather than just 4th cat and seem to be pretty busy, but I have heard that it is easier to get a ride there than Hillingdon, even if it is more difficult to get to

I've signed up to the imperial race league £5 and have booked the 4th cat race on Saturday 16th Jan at Hillingdon.
