Addiscombe Members Club Circuit Race - 16th July

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

But your entering affects who wins the title. Who wants to win by coming 2nd.

Reading the rules regarding 2nd claim members. It allows them to take part in club events.
The important part is the need to Marshall and put something back into the club etc. The same as a first claim member.
So given the example it sets, I'd be looking for commitments to complete.

Link to rule.

Can't race two days on the bounce Paul? The club race is 'just for fun' isn't it!? And no, my domestiques are all away on other duties I'm afraid.

Ben, noted. Thank you. Happy to help out at one of the remaining TT events if required.

See you tomorrow

I could turn up but cant see the point in a race when the (probably) fastest rider isnt eligible for the win. It screws the tactics and probably changes who the 1st ACC rider is.

Just to clarify:

Second claim members are also required to help with at least one event per year. If you haven't - and I know because I have a database of helpers going back 2 years - then no race.

Anyone who signs up to help at my event on the 23rd ( mail secretary@addiscombe.org before I go to bed tonight) gets an entry in the database before tomorrow's race. Those are the club rules.

General Secretary.

So are we going for 100% by the book tomorrow then?

We'd best bring a list of who completed what duty in 2015 so we can confirm that everyone completed their required duties before we allow them to pin a number on.

Got a problem with the club rules Jonathan?

The event costs a lot of money do you have a problem with expecting Adam to help at an event in return?

I have no problem with the rules, just inconsistant application of rules.

We as a club cannot tell one member that they can't race because they havn't done their duties while letting 3 or 4 member race even though they havn't done their required duties either.

100% agree with Jonathan. I assume there will be a list available tomorrow to check people's eligibility at sign on?

It's very disappointing that having been involved with the club for over 13 years, that I am being denied entry on a technicality because one club member kicks up a fuss the day before, who isn't even going to compete. So much for "the agreeables". Perhaps after 13 years it is time for me to resign my membership.

It's also interesting to note that at the beginning of June the club were more than happy to include my time in the aggregate to claim victory over Redhill CC in the interclub TT. Perhaps I also should have been barred from riding this event?

Citing a lack of supporting the sport is also a pretty weak point. Having started my club from scratch over the winter, we will have a 100% turnout to co-promote our race with Dulwich Paragon for SERRL. I might not have donned an ACC high vis of late, but rest assured I do my bit.

But those are your rules, so fair enough. Like I say, perhaps not a club I should be associated with moving forwards.

Suppose Id better go now - ill probably crash now.

Paul, if not just you, then who? Would you also care to enlighten me as to how exactly I was not "agreeable" in 2008/09, the only two times I have contested the race before?

Ben contacted me late last night, perhaps he felt unable to ask for help given the corner you have backed him into. So alas, I have now made plans with some more "agreeable" people today.

I hope the race goes well and a deserving winner is crowned.
