Addiscombe Members Club Circuit Race - 16th July

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Given I had registered the race under British Cycling, mainly for insurance purposes. It means BC rules take precedent/apply.
They state only first claim members can ride. I should have known to refer to this set of rules, first , rather than any additional club rules.

I should have stated very clearly at the start, First claim members only, when first asked. For that I apologise.

On a lighter note.
Well done to George Brent for winning the A race and Connor Billings the B race. Great efforts on a warm but windy circuit.

Thanks go to Paul Tunnell and all those that took part. A final mention goes to Alan who rode their, raced and towed me back. Good effort.

Echoing the thanks to Ben for organising the club circuit race at Cyclopark, where I had the dubious honour of coming 4th out of 3 in the B race! (Ant, recovering from his injuries, started with the B racers)

Climbing up to the finish of the first lap, I was already 30 plus metres off the back. Realising that I wouldn't be able to keep with the other 3 for the duration, I put in a full on effort to cross the line ahead of my fellow riders for the opening lap. Of course, I couldn't hold on to the group around the back of the circuit during the second lap, but I could see my fellow competitors slaken the pace to try and allow me to keep with them, but alas my (lack of) fitness meant I'd have needed a C (or Zee?) race! Anyway, thanks for your sporting consideration guys!

I continued to the end, treating it as a TT and giving it my full effort, so got a great workout. I thought of the McDonald's TV adverts with the slogan "Like getting your money's worth?"...

Next year, lets get everyone along for a great afternoon - I've done the last 2 and cyclopark is a great circuit with excellent facilities for family and friends to spectate.
