If they read the letters I wrote to the national exec each of the three times that I have resigned (once from a paid membership, twice from a free membership that I took just so that I could write to resign again), then yes, they will be aware. I have also emailed membership@britishcycling.org.uk to say that the money I was considering using to join post-olympics has, instead, been sent to the Kimmage defence fund.

What have/will you do to protest at their complicit support of the UCI, Keith?

Good for you Grahame, as it appears to be something you feel strongly on. Anyone who feels equally strongly on the topic could do well to follow your example of doing something positive. However I'm not a subscriber to the group taking some combined negative action as its first course of action. I'd rather you inspired the group to take some positive action, if at all.

What will I do? Nothing. But then I don't feel passionate about the UCI management situation. I follow the goings-on with mild fascination, but that's about it. I am however passionate about participation in road racing, so it's not something I'd lightly jeopardise. I don't apologise for being selfish.

I think it would be more honest for the club to consider and discuss it's position, rather than just sit passively by.

Indeed, and I think that's what Dan and I appear to be doing. Engaging in discussion.

Keith, I applaud your honesty!

A discussion and some consideration by each member of their position on the use of their money to support the current UCI is all I ask for.

[quote="Elliot M"]I wonder if the IOC had started hinting what a shame it would be if the UCI weren't able to attend Beijing in 4 years time.

Isn't the IOC event in four years time due to be held in Brazil rather than China?

There is a vote at AGM for affiliating to the organisations that the club does, everyone is free to vote yes or no as they see fit.

Sky's stance is stupid to remove someone of the class of Yates for something he may have done many years ago. He was working for them under their rules but they are not allowing for anyone to have changed or repented. It is also hypocritical that Brailsford doesn't allow Yates to be on his staff but quite happy to have Millar as his road captain in GB.

One team is going to pick up one of the best DS's in Yates to go against Sky when he was instrumental in their success, their clean success.

but Yatesy has "retired from cycling" so no new team for him..eh??

It's got nothing to do with his suspect 1989 sample nor about the fact he introduced Armstrong and US Postal team to Motoman and his subsequent relations with the Texan Tosser.

This whole Sky campaign is a joke and makes me think their over the top stance to prove themselves the virgin saints of the sport is nothing more than another elaborate cover up that even Armstrong would be proud of.

Yatesy will turn up at as DS within 6 months ..guaranteed! ..either Katusha or back at Astana!

All a bit sad and distasteful really, they also decided to choose LA over Abu Hamza and Jimmy Savile

And Pat McQuaid.

Seriously though, cheating in cycle racing isn't quite up there with other crimes.

I am with you Alex. And as a fan of cycling I find nothing to rejoice or celebrate in the Armstrong case - in fact I find it quite depressing. If a clearout at the top and a restructuring happens that makes it harder for this to ever happen again, then that will be a positive thing. At the moment it's all negative. Sure the numbers and the tests strongly suggest that we have a pretty clean peleton now but what's the use of that if we have a dirty governing body?

Good news :!: :!: :!:

Pressure is mounting on the two top canutes :!: :D

Love their kit too! Great news really!

Love this quote from Skins chairman Jaimie Fuller:

“The unequivocal overhaul of cycling can only be achieved by a credible and capable governing body. In serving this action, Skins’ is also serving notice that the UCI is not currently the organisation that cycling needs it to be. For the last 22 years, there have been 2 people at the head of this organisation and we allege that they are directly responsible for the culture of denial within the UCI. It’s past time for change.”

Hurrah! :D
