Bike insurance - any recommendations

Postby HSam » Fri Nov 08, 2013 7:48 pm

Er, title pretty much says it all. Wondered if anyone knew any insurers who did low cost cover for theft from home and accident?

ETA do cover that includes racing as well as the normal 3rd party, theft, accident, Basque separatism.

Will it cover me if the Scots vote for independence?

Cover to include racing can be pricey, for obvious reasons.

Always included within house insurance, quite a few cover bikes not as bikes but any pricier item, like jewellery. Covered at home and out when on the bike or it's securely locked.

Yep, have already checked with my home and contents insurance, but they won't cover the value of bikes I need unfortunately. They refused outright. Searching round bike-specific insurance, but all pretty pricey, even with high excess and no race cover...

Apparently the M&S home insurance includes bikes but only up to around £4,000

I used to be with M&S but they have changed their terms and cost was too high. Now with Sainsburys Bank which gave good cover and a big discount with my nectar card.

Worth putting in contents insurance if possible, how long to renewal? Regardless of insurance keep them securely locked with a big chain to a ground anchor.

Thanks all for suggestions.

Tried my home/contents provider again....and spoke to someone who knew their onions this time, so managed to get decent cover. At a price, but not quite as extortionate as bike-specific providers.
