IoW cycle holiday 2014

Postby Amy » Sun Feb 16, 2014 6:02 pm

I'm planning a couple of breaks to places that I want to explore a little more. One of them is the Isle of Wight! My plan is to stay at Shanklin so that I can wander down to the beach after a day of cycling and go rockpooling, maybe after a drink at the Fisherman's Cottage :D

Would anyone care to join me? I'm planning to go end of June, starting either Sat 21 June or Sat 28 - the latter may be most likely. I will check and confirm date tomorrow but I should be flexible especially as the new library assistant should be up to speed and able to be left alone for a day (the senior library officer has alternate Fridays off - if I've got it right, she's off 27 June).

Don't have to join me for whole week but it would be nice to have some company (though I will probably see John the old'un who lives near Ryde)

Once I've booked my accommodation I'll let peeps know which one

Forgot - Shanklin's got a great crazy golf course - ACC club championship?? Saw another one last time I was there :D

S0d it, I meant wb 5 July but someone's booked some silly event. Wb 7 June looks completely free and well away from school hols.

Finally got around to booking my accommodation - staying at the Clifton Hotel. Got 20% off by phoning them directly :D :D

I found them on the CTC site as being cycle-friendly so they have secure area for bicycles :D

So if any one feels like joining me, even for a day or so, please do. Either join me in exploring the Island a bit more or else go and do the round the Island bike ride and we'll meet up for rest and recuperation in the bar

We have just been to IOW, and stayed in Shanklin. We saw the crasy golf and went on a few bike rides, including riding all the way round one morning. Lovely place, very cheap and charming.
