Hi Phil

I took part in a session yesterday morning and it was good, our group had 18 riders which is the maximum.
Well worth £30 and you get a certificate Stage 1 track cycling.
Will look to go again.

Excellent to know Ron.

I'm hoping that as time goes on we'll be able to get more club-only sessions and more places on the British Cycling South East group sessions.

In the meantime, there are plenty of places still left for July 6th. Even if you've never ridden fixed before then you'll be fine.

Bump.

Lee Valley are now wanting to know about bike hire, show hire etc. If you want in then please send me the info ASAP. To clarify, I need to know:

If you need a bike, how tall are you/what frame size
If you need shoes, what size (euro). Hire bikes take Look Keo.
What track/fixed experience you have

Please mail to general@addiscombe.org

They were asking for height and I thought you were taller than 52cm. Maybe not much but a bit.

I have their inventory of bikes in front of me and they seem to go from a 43cm frame up to a 61. It's difficult to judge but I would go slightly on the smaller side for a track bike. Also you might want the saddle a bit lower on fixed for bloke reasons (think cadence > 120rpm and not being able to get out of the saddle - it's no fun).

I don't know the geometry of the bikes they have there so it might be better to go by height. In theory both mine and Tom's road bikes are 56cm but (at least for the next couple of months) he's not tall enough to ride mine because mine has a fairly compact/sloping top tube design whereas his Tarmac is more trad racer.

Hello. Final bump. As part of the British Cycling sessions, six of us went along yesterday to check out the track. It is pretty awesome. For our session on 6th July, you don't need to have ridden track before, you only need to be a club member. And to follow the instructions in the link above.

Full story to come in the club news section. Nobody crashed, everyone rode on the track. Everyone seemed to have a good time. This is just the "advanced" group.

I've booked to go to the taster/stage 1 accreditation on Tuesday 15th July @1.30pm. There's still a couple of places left for that session should anyone want to join me. It's a one hour session £30 adult/£22 concession.
