I was off at 6.35 and it was quite chilly riding to the start. After the start my legs felt terrible on the out leg, not a good sign as I had the wind behind me. Around the turn and I discovered the wind was quite strong, certainly more so than I expected. I have to say it was worst on the high section where it was like riding in to a wall.
I crawled home with my slowest trip around this course since 2009
in 25.48. For me the lack of fitness really showed afterwards as I wasn't out of breath at all having not been fit enough to go hard enough to do so.Always good to support friends' promotions though and hopefully I can now start to get some decent racing in now my life is back to normal.
Only one other ACC due to ride but Mr Proctor must have had a premonition about the wind and was a DNS.
Most riders were 1.5 - 2 mins off what they'd normally do, but the pros still flew. Winner Elliott Porter of Rapha Condor JLT (only 21) in 21.01 and Jo Rowsell did 21.39.
