5k Running times

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Well done Kieran thats a good time for your comeback 5k, plus you must be a proud dad!
I managed a 16.54 at the dulwich 5k back in June coming 7th, think winner was 15 something
Few weeks later at the rye 5k i ran a 16.44(4th and pb) then been suffering on and off since then with more calf problems which stopped me entering my sept and oct duathlons
Cheers

Hi Carl, thanks for the encouragement, yes, a proud Dad. Your time for the Dulwich is down as 16.50 on the Dulwich runners website. A great time! Also all the others ahead of you seem to belong to Althetics clubs, how would they do on a long sportive? I will have to see if I keep up the running, but would like to, starting with targets of under 20min, then 19min and then 18min. We'll see how it goes! easy to say.

Know what you mean being a proud dad, been taking my 7 year old son down the velodrome this year watching him improve lots,he nearly won the 4 lap race they have after the coached session but got swallowed up by bunch with a few meters to go 8)

Just try and stay injury free with the running though
As much as i really enjoy the running i seem to get injured more times than actually get to race
Going to these guys to try and fix the old calf problem for good

Hows your running sylv?,ssem to remember you wer'e suffering with injury a few weeks ago
cheers

It went away just as fast as it came, not sure it's a good thing .. my right leg is slightly dodgy since a few months even morese since that crash at the Herne Hill cross which doesn't seem to have healed. I plan to have it seen by a physio soon.

Ran the ballbuster course yesterday :)

[quote="johnnyha"]Don't get trainers to account for a poor running style. Change your running style and get the lightest trainers possible.

Anyone of reasonable fitness should be able to achieve 18mins.

Did you know you were on the front page of the ballbuster Pdf infopack John

I had a quick scan of past results but couldn't find you - was that pic actually from a bb event?

otherwise i'd be screaming in agony

I have one of those foam rollers for my tight IT bands. Use it every day plus doing my the exercises as prescribed by my physio.

Where does one buy these locally?

I got one of the rollers a few weeks ago as advised by my physio - they bloomin hurt but after a couple of weeks usage the pain has become a kind of pleasure in a wierd non kinky kind of way

I think they are good for working through the muscles particularly ITB & quads
