B standard chaingang ?

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

It all started well - I absolutely pegged it from home to CSS having to sprint over the now one-way bridge and then realising I was running late at Wallington.

I was the last to arrive at CSS and we left soon after and as I said, it all started rather well, nice steady 18 out from CSS along the main road - and then some b@st@rd jumped past us all and shot off the front, cranking the pace up to 23mph on my speedo. And just as I was gasping for breath over the top of motorway junction a bus went past and a small dust storm engulfed us. My throat felt gritty even when I got back home and I nearly gagged coughing. The world went brown for awhile as the dust coated my glasses. It seemed like someone had dropped the entire winter supply of grit on the Merstham drag

Didn't hang on for long after that and after the guys waited for me out the other side of Redhill, I said not to wait again and I'd turn at Horley and might see them on the way back.

Managed to stay away from them until Wallington when a raspberry behind me heralded Ant's arrival

Count me in. Need to get in as much training as possible to avoid being dropped next week by Paul and Sylv on all those hills in the South of France!

The weather was very good last night. Surprised a few more didn't turn out. One of Matts lights exploded and spread itself over the road and there was a short interlude while the pieces were collected. From my point of view it was quite useful as it gave me a chance to catch up with the group.

I was debating whether to come out anyway but I'm glad I didn't - I was out like a light soon after 9pm and didn't move till the alarm went off about 5.30am (bl**dy cat) and it was only because I thought I might have a visitor that I stayed up that long!!

I've got the Spring Onion this weekend but I hope to come out and play with you lot next week
