The REAL cost of christmas

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

The REAL cost of christmas

Postby huw williams » Tue Jan 05, 2010 12:07 am

Come on then - I'll start the ball rollin' How good/bad/indifferent was your xmas in training terms.
We all know how 'difficult' this period can be - more so this year as there was good-intention-scuppering ice all over the roads of Surrey (and Wales)

So here are some categories for you, but feel free to add your own - be honest now :D

O dear - I was wond'ring when this would come up....

I think I managed around 12 miles on my bike @ snail's pace on Dec 27th. I did walk from Waddon station to the half n half for ACC beerup - then proceeded to get hammered so I guess the jog back to the station @ 11.30 doesn't really count

I have managed to walk up the stairs a few times, and oh yeah, I did go to pilates on Dec 23rd.

My weight seems to be holding steady ish at around 11st 3lbs. But - any remaining muscle is fast turning to goo so getting into my kilt for the club dinner should be fun.

I plan to ride more in 2010 (like I could do less   ) once it gets and stays above freezing. Little and often to start with I think.

I too had no purple QS either though I did partake in a delightful boxing day goose atop box hill with Lord Ingram and all his staff, jolly good show.

NY resolutions - zero
FGF - pretty good, woozy head on Jan 1 but coulda been a lot worse.

Hi Sylv, 1st time there, I loved the resort itself, (got a ride back to the appartment on Christmas day on a one horse open sledge with bells!) piste wise I think I may have preferred Les Arcs area but my wife preferred Avoriaz. I still think it was still very good, conditions were quite variable but skiied every day morning and evening, it ranged from white-outs to sunny periods, temperature going from -19C to around freezing, it rained lower down once. Snow was powdery, icey, sticky, all in the one day. Some lifts were sometimes closed due to high winds, so if you were staying in Morzine sometimes it would have been hard to get up to Avoriaz. I would happily go back.
