Tabata intervals

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Tabata intervals

Postby mlocke » Fri May 07, 2010 5:55 pm

Anyone got any experience if these?

20 secs balls out 10 secs rest repeat till dead

A bike is setup on the turbo in garage now so no excuses (fixi)

Was thinking some short sharp sessions would help prepare for palace. I hope to get there in June once my early season triathlons are out of the way

was thinking could blast out 10 min sesh after a commute a couple of times a week

cheers

Oh and 10 mins is the total time.

Seems that would be very long time for these.

Reading it seems people start doing about 4 or 5 building up to about 5 mins

This sounds about right for something like palace to

yep although the recovery time iv'e been doing is 1 min not 10 secs
I've done it with running or cycling @ 20 secs full on sprint then 1min slow spin/recovery jog or walk x 15 max or until form starts to go
Cheers

about 2 years ago I did russian pyramid? you start at something like 20sec full on, 20 sec rest, 30sec full on, etc up to a 2 min effort and then back down the steps to 20sec and then collapse.
