Is base endurance transferable.

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Is base endurance transferable.

Is the base endurance I have from cycling transferable to running? I appreciate that I will have to get my body used to the pounding (steady Mr  ) but after I have got used to that can I start intervals or do I continue to build a running base?

You have to be careful with running as its so easy to get injured. You have the aerobic engine which is transferable but need to build and train your running muscles (mitochondria and strength), tendons and bone density.

When I started running again a couple of years ago, I started with one 30min steady run a week and built up from there and added interval training after about 2 months. Try and do as much running off road as well.
