V02 Max Testing - much point for your average Joe?

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

V02 Max Testing - much point for your average Joe?

Postby Dan_K » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:14 pm

I have the possibility of a free Max Vo2 test.

Is there much point in doing it as i'm not really a racer?
What am I likely to gain/learn from it?

Would there be much difference doing it at this time of the season?

Hmm... if it's free I gues there's no problem. It might be a nice number to know for posterity' sakes or if you're planning on a training regime you could have your VO2max measured at the begining and then retested later to see how much fitter you've become (e.g winter versus summer) Ultimately though anyone who's really serious about assessing their fitness will probably have or get powermeter.

Cheers Toks. Reckon I won't bother then as it was a trek out to West London to Brunel Uni for 2 visits.
If anyone else is interested, let me know and i'll give you the info. Open to 20-35 year olds.
