Pyrenees advice

I'm goung to spain and staying in the Pyrenees from the 19th July until the 17th August, I'm getting my new bike soon, a specialized allez (possibly sport) but still need advice on how to ride there

How to ride to Spain from London? At a steady pace.
or
How to ride whilst there? If you haven't been to big climbs then again, steady. You spend a lot of time with your front wheel higher than your back one, change down one sprocket more than you think you would normally at the start of the climb and that will ease your legs in to it better.
