FaCT Education

Who are Fact education?

Well they are active partners of with Juerg Feldmann and Herb Chlebek at FaCT-Canada who provide current physiologic testing and education courses. Our certification courses have been developed to help coaches and their athletes to understand how the body responds to exercise.

From Fact-Education.com :-
"Understanding the physiology behind exercise will help you to realize some of the fundamental flaws in standard lactate threshold protocols, and most VO2 max tests. Our courses offer in depth discussions on both the theory behind testing, and practical application of the results. We also include practical sessions on how to perform the FaCT test in the lab and in the field, in conjunction with both respiratory assessments and VO2 testing. All participants get hands-on experience with the different testing equipment that can be purchased through our on-line store.

FaCT certification is currently being provided at two different levels, Level I & II".

My path to FaCT came about me searching the web on IHT. This lead to a phone conversation with Juerg about the Spirotiger which he put me off buying one and told me to join the forum and learn about their ideas first.

The forum has the procedure how to preform the test so I could have saved myself the money on the training camp in Mallorca but I was advised that I would not really get the full understanding of the test as there's not set protocol as it can change for each client which I am finding out as I test people in the club.

Now lucky for me this year was the first time FaCT-education was coming to Europe for a 12 day camp. Most of the people on the camp were from Canada and there was only 3 coaches doing the courses. Doing the level I course was myself and my room mate Peter from Denmark and the level II course was the 2 of us and Kevin from Canada.

During the camp I had 1.5 days of testing athletes and 6 evenings (2-hrs) of study whilst also riding during the camp...

My learning really starts now as I test people. I never set out to test people it just happened when Rob C asked me if I would be testing other people...

So I'm now certified to do the Level I & II test as far as I know nobody else is doing this test in the UK.

I have been awarded certificates and new ones arrived this week after I spotted a couple of errors.
