At HR 135 the sample was 2.6mmol, this was the first rise on the 2nd part of the test. Job done but I wanted to double check so I held him at HR 135 for another 5mins and the lactate dropped down to 2.4mmol at this point the athlete was saying his legs were feeling the burn. A small drop in lactate but could be still considered stable as the lactate pro has a +/- accuracy.

However to prove to myself his LBP was 130 I took him up to HR 140 and this time lactate dropped a bit again down to 2.2mmol. Erm? So is his LBP 130? I didnt take the athlete up again as he was feeling the burn, complaining of a sore butt, HR was not steady and was getting bored (was thinking of his dinner he mentioned and his saddle was annoying him).

I’ve had a quick email conversation with Michel about this and he picked up on that my client was feeling hungry, getting the burn and feeling bored and that this may be due to running out of fuel which might explain the reason why the lactate is dropping after the first initial rise when I pegged his LBP @ 130.

I would definitely recommend to Scott (and everyone else) to practice diaphrgam breathing as you can see later on the first part of the test his resp rate drops real low where he changes his style of breathing as the Bioharness is loosing diaphragm motion.

In the 2nd part of the test his breathing is high @ HR 125 then drops making me think he's no longer using his diaphragm or he's really good at manipulating his resp rate but then again he didn't have these low figures in the first part of the test @ low HR's.

I imagine his resiratory system hadn't recovered. More tests will show over time a trend on how his breathing reacts.

Looking at all three screen shots the waveform for breathing looks very irregular. The last screen shot the Bioharness is not picking much movement on the diahragm as Scott in most likely using his upper body to breathe and restricting movement of his diaphragm
