Recovery line when pushed too hard

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Recovery line when pushed too hard

I've been given permission to post but minus the person's name.

I want to show what happens when your pushed too hard on the 1st part of the LBP ramp test. At 237 Watts the person gave a perceived effort of 7, the next interval they were aiming for 260 Watts, halfway through the 3min interval it was @ 253 Watts then steadily dropped to 241 Watts.

On the 2nd part of the test to find LBP and plot the green recovery line I noticed they had real trouble for the first 2-3 points holding HR steady and also cadence was outside the +/- 5rpm range. Fatigue in co-ordination perhaps?

Their results for the test was :-

LBP - 155bpm
LBP wattage - 199 Watts

What is interesting even though their recovery line never joins the blue line indicating they did not recovery during the test was the first point on the recovery line is not that far away from the blue performance line.

Would be nice to test again but not push them so hard and see if they have a small drop again and if the green lines crosses through the blue performance line. The drop is similar to the FaCT graph showed Andrew showed me but that person green line did cross showing recovery.

The small drop is this due to their type of training? Will know next time I test to get a better trend of this person.
