A cessation of hostilities?

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

It has gone a bit quiet though!

Just to add a bit of interest, thought you might like to know, whilst on the rollers, I can now lean over and grab a drink from the workstop. I can also get a towel and wipe my face (bit wobbly that though).

Also 120 rpm feels smoother and stronger, and there is less jiggling up and down.

Anyone else apart from PVT using rollers?

Oh a sensible post at last...

I use my rollers primarily because I don't have a turbo Sylv. I acquired my rollers from the generous John Lovell last year, and they do actually provide a good amount of resistance for most uses. For example yesterday I did 30second intervals at 25mph on them, in the big ring, and then little ring, easy in between. This was meaning my HR would still drift up to 145 or so when at 25mph (obviously it would be higher on the road) and then dropping to about 115 during the easy bits where I'd be at around 18mph. But basically yes, the idea of this excercise is to develop a smooth pedalling motion. As you know, cycling is all about economy. Thats not to say just because you can't control the resistance you dont get a good work out though. The added benefit of rollers is, of course, balance! (and core strength etc...)
