Supplements

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

I`ve been using Allsports Winter Training Formula. Great for riding, mixed with water, also blend it with milk and a banana and use as a recovery drink, seems to work and tastes great.

Have tried creatine, but didn`t seem to do much, only made me put on weight, seem to retain a lot of fluid.

I use Neovite a bit and think it is great for an overall supplement especially in the off season. I never seem to pick up colds or other minor illnesses when I'm taking it. Seems to really help my digestion as well and I wonder if it helps maximise uptake of nutrients from food.

I would have thought that a scoop of whey protein in energy drink might make a pretty disgusting concoction.
High 5 4.1 contains protein but still mixes and tastes OK. I use it all the time, even in races.

I've heard EPO is pretty good, but don't know where to get it from. My local drug dealer only had crack and said that he'd never heard of EPO - rubbish really!

Neovite - £75!! I'll stick to crack, much cheaper and guaranteed effects.

For recovery drinks I go DIY. This is probably more expensive than reasonably priced champagne but yesterday, after 3.5 hours in the cold and damp I had this:

Half litre of unsweetened soya milk
scoop of glutamine powder
scoop of whey protein powder
half packet of blueberries
1 banana
1 Tbl spoon honey
1 Tbl spoon oats

All blitzed in the blender - drink half straight away and chill the other half for later :D

I use Torq gels and energie drink as it doesnt contain anything artificial like aspartame which rots your brain and when I get home after a hard ride I just go out and forage for nuts and wild berries...
