Sprint training improves your putting

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Sprint training improves your putting

Conclusive proof that Maximal sprint efforts improve putting efficiency?*

In a recent test (lunchtime today) a barely trained rider (me) completed four 20ft putts into a standard plastic water cup on a level, office carpet surface. The success rate was one in four
The rider then did a 20 minute warm up before completeing 10 maximal effort sprints with 3 minutes rest between each.

After a ten minute warm down the putting protocol was repeated (albeit with a 15% increase in heart rate) where a score of two out of four was achieved, an increase of 25%.

Researchers are still unable to agree on whether this hugely significant improvement is down to the sprints themselves or the heightened state of arousal reflected in the elevated heart rate.

Commenting on the findings, famous no-time major winner Colin Montgomery (interviewed buying a Pinarello in Geoffrey Butler's) said "If only I'd known this at the start of my career..."

clearly just a "functional" workout with no long term benefit.

Nice to now my CW subscription is being spent on worthy scientific experiments.

I'm glad you appreciate the painstaking research that goes into the fitness features

Another area I'm currently researching is I how a pre-work hill rep session affects tea-making frequency during an 8-hour day and if the biscuit count is influenced as a side issue.

Tricky one Huw as I would think the desire for the tea would increase but the ability to keep getting up and making one may diminish. Might even themselves out. Biscuit count should increase but if the tea count drops then that will probably effect intake.

With the darts if my experience is anything I'd say that the ability to score anything worth reliably averaging (either before or after) would not produce reliable data.

Why does every issue of just about every cycling magazine have some crap about an old git going for a bike ride on it? Sod all to write about said git but that doesn't seem to stop the dross poring forth. I fully expect to see a feature on how many sheets of paper he uses when he wipes his arse soon.

Has this outstanding piece of research been peer-reviewed and published in a reputable scientific journal?

I feel that it may be flawed as you didn't have a parallel control experiment of putting followed by a sit down with a cup of tea and biscuits and then the repeat of the putting.

I mis-read the title as 'pulling'. I'm disappointed now.
