excess or success Q & A

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

[quote="Dominic"]Yep some of it is very scary!! This is the one that I do:

http://www.rosstraining.com/articles/wo ... ty101.html

If you scroll down there is a video. He does it in 1.18. I was taking over 2 mins a cycle and I was doing only 10 burpees, I tell you it makes you sweat

It looks like pretty good stuff as it's over quickly so you don't get fed up and has plenty of variety. Those burpees take me back, haven't done any since I stopped playing rugby. They were hard then and I doubt the extra years would make them any easier for me. Might annoy the neighbours downstairs if I start chucking a ball at the floor though :) .

You and Stu really need to stop feeling sorry for yourselves and just get on with it. What a pair of whingers. Put it in the box. Im worried that George is going to join you whimps after saturday as well now.

For myself, xmas was Ok. I didnt do a lot of training but just tried to keep things ticking over. As you get older, I think it is essential not to have too long a break. I beleive in the "use it or lose it" theory i.e. if I stop training and lose say 20% of my aerobic fitness, I can only get approx 19.5% back and the 0.5% has gone for good. Therefore two layoffs in a year could cost me 10w at AT.

I therefore never stop training for any more than a week and before have continued to train even with some terrible injuries (im not saying this is a wise thing to do though and wouldnt train with a fever). I have noticed when I start to get a cold, stopping training never seems to stop it developing so always crack on untill I feel too rubbish to continue. Its always hard to start training up again after a cold/flu so as soon as the symptons die down, I will do 10min turbos sessions untill Im feeling a bit better - I think a bit of exercise can help to clear out the airways.

Training is not a problem for me as I enjoy it and have an understanding wife.

Yes but since I broke my neck the circulation to my left hand is a problem in very cold conditions.

Everything was going well - no lay off this year - kept riding through winter.

In the Gym weight training.

High cadence low HR sessions

20 mile  tough commute.

And now have a medical condition which Dr has told me not to ride for more than 1 hour a day at LBP or less  pending results of investigations....don't want to say what it may be in the hope that it isn't.

Still ticking over but not building on anything
