I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Ant is right

It worked much better once I was told it's the rear wheel that goes between the two close rollers

I had two-three attempts before giving up. Not my fault if Tacx don't include instructions! Much better the proper way round ... (just as long as I remember not to get out of the saddle suddenly). Had fun going as slowly as possible too (<30w). But weirdly holding just 200w seems harder than on the turbo or the road- do you find this too?

Oh and you should see me on the mtb with those - louder than a Harley idling - should be fun at the races.

Haven't used a power meter for ages, but I do believe rollers are very much underated. Turbo's are too easy because you upper body has no strain on it what so ever, this does not represent the reality of actual riding. So yeah I guess. But you'll get used to the rollers, the more you ride them the easier it gets.

I can agree with Adam.

Even managed to do 2 hours on Saturday (after softening up the undercarriage problems with a small towel) after looking at the agressive frost and the thermometer saying -8! No probs.

Still can't do hands off though, but I find it really hard to do that on my bike on the road in anycase. Something to do with the geometry I believe.

Sylv, I thought that was going to be your new party piece - riding the rollers back to front ! :D

By the way, do you ride them on the ground floor or are you in an upper floor flat ? If so, what do you do to dampen the noise/vibrations ? Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I am currently using them in my second floor flat and my neighbours aren't too keen on being "serenaded" !

Cheers,

Maria

I agree. On the odd occassion that I ride indoors, I find it really tough to motivate myself mentally the turbo, but it's easy to while away an hour on the rollers.

I'll give it another shot, I'm sure I can do it.

I would suggest playing music even louder than the noise from the rollers.

I'm on ground floor fortunately.
